Brunswick Heads NSW Aug 19-23 2018

My apologies for being a week or so late with this post, but we made it home and 'things' have just overwhelmed me.

But, back to Brunswick Heads.....

Brunswick Heads is a tiny village, stuck between Byron Bay and Ocean Shores. It is 'quaint', in that it seems untouched by either the super-hype trendoidness of the Bay or the uber-suburbanism of Ocean Shores. I hope it stays this way for ever. The thing is, its only about 4 blocks, no high-rise buildings and so laid back it's barely believable. The focal point of town is the pub, which is now part owned by 'Strop & Delvine' one-time heroes of Australian Film and TV. The pub is just so relaxed. It's all outside, one huge beer garden. The food is delicious, the entertainment plentiful and varied and the wine, if you buy the right one and don't ask the price, is fantastic. We spent one fairly long night there eating, drinking and playing musical bingo. And then you just walk the couple of hundred metres back to the van and retire for the evening. One other nigh they had a trivia quiz, we even dragged Shirl along and despite my best efforts, didn't come last!

It's a five minute walk to the beach, I went out early one morning, taking some snaps on the way. Judy decided to go fishing one afternoon, so we threw a line out the back of the van into the Simpson's creek and she immediately pulled in the biggest bream I have seen on the end of her line.

After Brunswick, we had a long-ish day down to Forster to see family. We stayed overnight in the driveway, which felt a bit weird, but was perfectly OK. Next day we left at 7am and drove 60km to Canberra, stopping at Wyong Service Centre and again at Sutton Forest. A very long, tiring and tedious day.

And now we know how far it is to drive right around Australia. Ou way was the short-cut way and took 15,000 kilometres to complete.

But, you wake up the next morning in your own bed and realise that it's all over until next year. See you then.
