Darwin 2

Sunday
Ah, another day or two has slipped past without much effort on our behalf. We did make it to the Mindil Beach markets yesterday, browsed, watched the sunset with 10,000 others and then had one of the pizzas we remember so fondly. We did however, forgo the mini  Dutch pancakes with cream and ice cream.

Instead we wandered down to Stokes Hill Wharf for a coffee and to watch the lights on the water.

So, that's us for the day! We have booked our evening dinner cruise for Thursday and secured a table at the restaurant that's right on the edge of the wharf for Tuesday.

Monday
Big day today - gotta go an get a haircut each, although I wont be having the colour!

Tuesday
We ventured out of town today to investigate a place called Berry Springs. It turns out to be a small waterfall and two large pools of warm crystal clear water surrounded by a few acres of parkland. To get some idea of its popularity, the sign at the parking lot entry says it all:

'If the car park is full, Berry Springs will be very busy. Please come again another time'

Today however, despite the temperature being 34 something, it was only 1/4 busy so we parked and after a quick look around, decided on the swim option. We had a very pleasant time floating about and trying to find the bottom, which I never did!

We promise to go and buy some noodles, get our goggles and go back again before we leave here next week. Actually they have van parking so we could pick it up on the way out...

...or we could just wait until we get to Mataranka, which you recall has our favourite hot spring

Had dinner at Stokes Hill Wharf, at the Crustacean Restaurant. We had booked early and got ourselves a table right on the edge of the wharf, looking over the water. Across the other side of the harbour you could see the big grass fires that they start at this time of year, a burning off prevention scheme they have been practising for thousands of years.

Judy had scallop mornay for an entree, which was pretty yummo, we both had the barramundi for mains, and while the fish itself was beautiful, the salad and chips looked like they had been on the plate waiting for the fish since lunchtime. Sad.

Snap?
