Alice Springs - last day

Hit the Ghan Railway Museum and then the Transport Hall of Fame. The Ghan museum is a bit thin. They have some memorabilia from railways inside a reconstructed Stuart Town station and one of the original Ghan diesel engines from 1956 outside on the line, but actual Ghan stuff was a bit light on. The Transport Hall of Fame’s claim to fame is that Kenworth have spent millions building a huge shed and fitting it out with maybe ten or more Kenworth trucks, one of which was brand new at the time. Why do they do it? Who knows. Out n the yard is a collection of old trucks, including the original road train, and rusty hulks of various shapes and sizes. More trucks inside the main shed along with a few vintage cars and lots and lots of photos and displays from various trucking companies.
Had another swim in the near frigid pool followed by a few drinks and bikkies with Lyn & Ray who we promised to try and catch up with again in Darwin or Kununurra when they will have met up with Ross’ brother Malcolm who is flying out from Kuala Lumpur for his 50th birthday. Safe travels, see you in the bush!
