Mataranka, NT

My turn to spend the night throwing up! Ended up back at the hospital to make sure it was just ‘gastric’ and then headed out north, not sure what we were trying to achieve or where we hoped to get to. As each possible place came up, we would roan at the sight of some run down shanty and keep going. The car’s gearbox is starting to play up again as they told me it would and now I don’t know what to do about it. Would be a bit silly heading out to Broome and having it  breakdown somewhere even more remote than where we have been today.
Cruised past Daly Waters for a look and it’s a shanty town as well, but made acceptable by all the people that stop there as some sort of odd cult thing. Finally made it into Mataranka, a town that exists living on the continuing popularity of the area after the book, We of the never never, was turned into a film. We might stay here a while longer on the way back and explore the hot springs and the history a bit more.
