Tennant Creek - day 2!

Judy has been laid low with Territory Tummy and a visit to the TC Hospital is in order. Gastric is diagnosed along with a day’s rest, so we spent an unexpected second day in Tennant Creek. Slid out this afternoon to look at the remains of the Old Telegraph Station, which while it still stands, is empty and barricaded and appears to have be much used and abused since the telegraph closed in 1935. The Government is doing something regarding restoration, but if the bright white and green paint on the two outbuildings is anything to go by, it’s going to be horrible. On the way back to town we turned off and went down to Lake Mary Ann, an artificial lake created 5k out of town in 1980. Given semi-arid desert surround it for hundreds of kilometres, this is a virtual oasis, with a broad expanse of deep water surrounded all down one side by verdant green grass and picnic settings.
