Alice Springs
What a lovely day we’ve had doing nothing in particular but
relaxing. After a late breakfast and catching up on computer business, we
headed into town for a browse around the shops. Have to say not a great variety
of shops to look at. Bought the odd souvenir for the grandkiddies, just couldn’t
help ourselves. After a relaxing lunch back at the van, we headed out to visit
the Old Telegraph Station. It was the first place in Australia that telegraph
was received and relayed on to around Australia. It was full of lots of memorabilia,
info of the times and was very interesting.
The caravan park we are staying at has something organised
every night if you wish to go. Last night we missed the talk on flora and fauna
of the area and tonight we were going to miss the cheese and wine – bring your
own wine. It’s funny how things turn out. We arrived back at the van park about
5.45 and who knows why, we decided to join in for the last half hour. We were
talking to some people when a loud voice exclaimed “oh my God, Brian Black” It
was Ross McCormick’s sister and her husband, Lynette and Ray. It turns out they
are doing almost the same trip as us, so had a lovely time catching up and
finding out all the goss. No doubt we will run into them along the way. What a
small world (for those who don’t know, Ross was Brian’s best friend from the
time they were little)
Hi there Brian & Judy! You Aussies will go a long way to have fun. Me and Pat have visited OZ twice (Perth, Adelaide, Sydney & Cairns) and travelled from Perth to Adelaide by train, so we can understand what you mean by wilderness. Great blog, great photos. Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mick, having a ball!
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of interest, Mick writes really good adventure novels, one of which went #1 for a while on Amazon, if anyone is interested and most are available as Kindles on Amazon. Look for Mick Parker.
Brian
