A plan takes shape

Well today we decided to take the bull by the horns, stop sitting around worrying about the car and when it would be ready and became proactive. Instead of just hanging here in Darwin, we looked at our options to see what could be done while waiting for the car. We first thought of a trip to Singapore for a few days but that didn’t really help us as far as seeing what we wanted to see here in Australia and did we really need to see Singapore. It didn’t take us too long to look at another option. We dropped into the Thrifty car rental place to see if it was possible to book a 4WD with a tow bar so we could take our van to Kununurra and back. It turned out to be doable so we went ahead and booked it for Thursday afternoon. Next stop the mechanic to see when realistically our car should be ready. He was still expecting the gear box to arrive on Friday but we certainly didn’t and with Monday a public holiday, Wednesday next week seemed more like it. We rang the mechanics in Canberra and they said the gearbox will be dispatched tomorrow so should arrive in Darwin Tuesday or Wednesday next week. Just like we thought. So…we will go to Kununurra, take a few days to look around and hopefully take a trip to the Bungles and be back in Darwin Thursday of next week with the car ready and waiting for us! Now with a decision made and a plan in place, we both feel much more relaxed and spent the afternoon by the pool at Nightcliff and watching the most amazing sunset over Fannie Bay. There is a fire just out of Darwin and the smoke in the air turned the sun golden with orange reflections on the water. We were near the yacht club and watched the rescue boats tow the small yachts back to shore as the sun was setting over the bay. Couldn’t help but think that Paul would have enjoyed being in one of those rescue boats.

Snap of the day

Well, one just can't help oneself, can one?

  1. Oh that's good, I'm glad you made a decision, even though Singapore would of been amazing and you could have had a long island iced tea at raffles... Is it called raffles? Anyway, this plans sounds like a good idea. Darwin is pretty boring anyways! For what I have heard.
