Atherton 2

Day3
Wandered about today. Washed the car. Went to Hasties Swamp which is a wildlife (bird) reserve and boasts a two story bird hide.

Thought we'd see how much the Curtain fig tree has grown in the 10 years since we last saw it, but hey, we couldn't tell!
We had a look at the falls at Malanda and had lunch in a tiny bakery. Went to Lake Eacham where we were surprised to see two divers all rigged up with re-breathers, two spare air bottles and looking like the Michelin man. They said they would get 50m but the vis is rubbish, it’s freezing and there’s nothing to see. Can only assume they were training for the time when they’d have to go down looking for something or someone. Lake Barrine hasn’t changed one bit, tried snapping a Ulysses butterflies and some yellow bird.

We came back at that point and I went and filled up the car and went for a swim in the public pool, which may have been heated but which was pretty cool.

Pretty much packed up and ready to go up to Port Douglas

I've been a bit lazy today, not many snaps, put a few more under the Atherton heading.

Plumed whistling duck. Hasties Swamp, Atherton, Qld
