Darwin harbour, Darwin NT

Time for a big night out. One of our favourite pastimes is taking a sunset dinner cruise, and one of the best places to do that is aboard the Cape Adieu in Darwin Harbour.

Leaving at 530pm from Stokes hill wharf, the Cape does a small sweep past the wharf itself and then out along the eastern shoreline. We sailed up past the Parliament House, the deckchair theatre, the naval port, Cullen Bay and on up past Mindel Beach just as the sun sets over the western horizon.

All this time we are being plied with food. First, an amuse bouche of hummos dip and mackerel dip, entree of  prawns and spanish mackerel and various salad bits, followed by a main of either white salmon or scotch fillet with red wine and mushroom sauce. To finish off, we were presented with a delightful individual serve of lemon cheese cake. Coffee or tea optional.

As dinner is being cleared away, we are making our way slowly and quietly back to ward the wharf where we tie-up just on 8pm.

Ah, this is living.
