We decided after consulting all the tram and bus and train guides, that the best thing for s to do this afternoon would be to drive clear across town and out to St Kilda for a cup of coffee. Great plan. Thank heavens for Tom and his mate Tom. It's great, just tell it where you want to go and follow blindly. Worked a treat, even considering it was peak several hours, we got there with no dramas and only one missed turn - you know : turn left, charge over 4 packed lanes and turn right!

Had a lovely stroll around St Kilda's coffee strip and finally succumbed to the fabulous looking cakes and pastries in every other window.

Tomx2 brough us home a completely different way and in half the time

Might have a go at the trams tomorrow

Queenscliff Vic March 25, 2015 Set out cross-country style to get from Bendigo to Queenscliff, using all the A, B & C roads we could find. Fairly pleasant trip actually and we saw a bit of the country and a few little towns like Gisbourne and Bacchus Marsh. Didn't really see them as such, just drove through, didn't even stop for coffee as they are old style towns with no place to park a car and van. Made it into Queenscliff and back into the same spot we had last time. While we were eating lunch we took some snaps of cute little birds in and around the bottlebrush tree.  Look at this cute little guy. Yes, that's right, we've hitched up the Mitsubishi MAC truck and after changing the electrical connector on the van we is good to go. Funny feeling though as we had become quite settled in our little possie here at Shady Glen caravan park. First stop was Adelaide River where we wanted to check out the War Graves Cemetery. It's a really pleasant and peaceful lawn cemetery, the final resting place of 434 men and women killed in action on Australian soil during WW2. It also contains a memorial to the 292 other persons missing in action whose bodies were never found. As you walk around you are struck by the overwhelming young age of these people, most not more than 22. We've become used to the idea of war graves in France and Turkey, but to see them here, right under your own feet on Australian soil is sobering. At one end are the graves of the 9 Post Office Workers, the first civilians to die during the first air raid on Darwin. Its a tragic place and a poignant remind...

Narooma NSW, Australian Fur Seal, Stingray, Mill Bay Boardwalk

Egad! Our penultimate day on the loose. What is a body to do? These bodies decided to take a little run up the coast to Narooma. The first thing you notice is how much the place has changed in the last few years, especially around the main tourist area. Big wide road, roundabouts, off street parking. First we had a poke around Black Bream Point, where we spent a few days back in 2002 when we had the boat. Black Bream Point is the name of the cabins and the point out on the back lake where we stayed. It's still there, which surprised me a bit and even seems to be a bit more up market than before, and certainly the prices have moved northward. Our favourite memory was cruising around the lake and going over to the cafes on the other side for lunch. Is there anything more satisfying than tieing up your boat at the cafes own jetty before strolling in for lunch and coffee?
