Kingaroy Qld

This was yesterday actually, but the fact is that we had planned to stop here for two nights and relax and see the sights.

The van park is bland, no, boring. A few people about, but mostly road workers in all the cabins and all their large trucks out the front. Maybe 3-4 vans and two tents stayed the night. They had a few semi-permanent vans hidden behind the #2 amenities block, but otherwise very quiet indeed. Judy ran foul of the resident laundry dragon when she attempted to do the washing and came back with steam coming out her ears. She would have been happy to pack and vamoose there and then. As it was we decided that we would cut and run in the morning.

Kingaroy is associated with three things: peanuts,  Joh BjelkePetersen, one time long serving premier of Qld, and Flo BjelkePetersen's pumpkin scones. Sadly none of these things feature in Kingaroy, in fact nothing features, its the most bland town i can think of. There is the self-proclaimed 'World Famous' peanut shack, on a street corner (no, literally on the grass and kerb part of the corner) and they have the most uninspiring range of peanuts one can imagine. We bought a small plain roasted bag out of pity more than need or desire.

One thing they do have however, is a Ford Dealer and they were delighted to do the 3000km service on my vehicle first thing the next morning.

Bought wine and retired for the evening.

No snaps today I'm afraid.

  1. They also have a Suzuki dealer where I had my bike serviced. They were very helpful and very charged very reasonable. I too was more impressed with the nearby town of Nanango where I was staying with my godmother.
