Rockhampton Qld

We woke up to overcast and drizzle and decided to spend the day down in Rockhampton ('Rocky') starting with the Botanical Gardens, which some of you may recall last visiting a few years ago, namely 1994.

I couldn't remember much about it except for the Japanese gardens, but I have to say, it was a really interesting day as they have load of oddball tropical plants and trees which we don't see down in the freeze zone! The oddest one would have to be the Sausage Tree, with fruit like huge peanuts, quite heavy and solid and much bigger than my foot size. It's a really nice relaxing gardens and well worth a visit if you happen to be straying through Rocky sometime.

We also had to do some shopping, namely for a new camera for Judy as the Nikon lens is now completely ruined. We settled on a compact Canon which JB had at a reasonable price, lets hope this one lasts more than two years.

We also bought me a new hat; can you believe we headed to the North of Australia and I left all the hats at home? Got me a new fancy Akubra, now I'm all ready for the Brunette Races - hee haw!

  1. Would love to see a photo of the Akrubra (with you under it, of course).
