Proserpine Qld. August 5, 2015
A day to go exploring inland a bit today. We went up to Proserpine first and wandered in and out of the old-fashioned shops that line the one street. Having exhausted this form of entertainment we adjourned to Cafe 22 on that main street. It may have been the only one for that matter, it's not that big a place. As it was, the moment that you walked in you knew it was 'the' place to have lunch as it was packed. The lack of thongs / flip flops / plugs on the customers' feet gave an indication that they were the local workers from the business and council offices.
After lunch we started back down to Airlie, but took a detour out to a place called Cedar Creek. Not that we expected much, it hasn't rained for ages. We found, at the end of a side road off the side of a side road, a small-ish waterhole with a few drips coming down over the rocks. No water coming out of the waterhole and down the creek, which was a shame as it would be quite pretty after rain when its all working. The water was not frigid and would be an ideal swimming hole during summer. And hardly any chance of crocodiles...

From here we went back to the original side road and followed it another 10km to the end, which is Conroy Beach. The beach is quite flat and tidal. The town is small but looked neat and tidy with one shop: at the local caravan park. The park itself was pretty well patronised, it must be one of those places you just have to know about as it's basically 'nowhere'.

Anyhow, enough fun, back to the caravan for a swim and a bit of sunning next to the pool.
